The KYF II flotation machine is a forced-air mechanical flotation cell built for antimony ore beneficiation, especially stibnite (Sb₂S₃) ores that must be upgraded to a saleable antimony concentrate. Effective volumes from 4 m³ to 160 m³ cover test-scale, small concentrator and large tonnage plants.
Stibnite is soft and slimes easily. When agitation is too strong, the freshly liberated stibnite particles break down further and the fine slime coats bubble surfaces, which lowers the flotation selectivity and drags gangue into the concentrate. The KYF II cell separates agitation from aeration: the impeller only suspends the pulp, while air is supplied by an external blower and regulated independently. Operators can therefore keep the froth stable and the concentrate grade high without over-agitating the pulp.
Because KYF II has no slurry suction capability, it is normally arranged with XCF II as the first cell of each flotation bank, so the stages can be installed on one level and no froth pump is needed for froth return.
Reagent schemes are adjusted to the ore: lead salt activation with xanthate collectors and pine oil or MIBC frother is common, with depressants added when pyrite or arsenopyrite must be rejected. We select the circuit and reagent regime from your ore test work rather than from a fixed recipe.
| Ore Type | Main Challenge | Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Sulfide stibnite ore | Soft mineral, slimes easily under strong agitation | Stage grinding, moderate impeller speed, independent air control to hold froth stability |
| Antimony ore with arsenic or pyrite | Arsenic and sulfur report to concentrate and lower grade | Depressant addition in cleaning stages, higher cleaning ratio, regrinding of rougher concentrate |
| Oxidized antimony ore | Poor floatability of oxidized minerals | Sulfidization with sodium sulfide before flotation, higher collector dosage |
| Antimony-gold bearing ore | Two products must be recovered from one circuit | Bulk flotation followed by selective separation, or gravity plus flotation combination |
Cell sizing follows pulp flow rather than ore tonnage alone. As a working reference: a 100 tpd circuit usually runs 2–6 m³/min of pulp flow and suits KYF II-4 to KYF II-16; 300 tpd suits KYF II-16 to KYF II-40; 500 tpd and above suits KYF II-40 to KYF II-160. Final selection is confirmed after pulp density and flotation time are fixed in your test work.
| Model | Effective Volume (m³) | Capacity (m³/min) | Impeller Dia. (m) | Motor Power (kW) | Air Pressure (kPa) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KYF II-4 | 4 | 1–4 | 0.55 | 7.5 | >15 |
| KYF II-8 | 8 | 2–8 | 0.63 | 15 | >19 |
| KYF II-16 | 16 | 4–16 | 0.74 | 22 | >23 |
| KYF II-24 | 24 | 6–24 | 0.80 | 37 | >27 |
| KYF II-40 | 40 | 8–38 | 1.05 | 55 | >32 |
| KYF II-70 | 70 | 13–50 | 1.12 | 90 | >35 |
| KYF II-100 | 100 | 20–60 | 1.26 | 132 | >40 |
| KYF II-160 | 160 | 20–60 | 1.35 | 160 | >48 |
Recommended feed particle size is 0.3–0.01 mm. Cells can be supplied as single units or as a complete bank with launder, froth cone and wear parts.
Rotor, stator, impeller and cover plate are available in polyurethane, rubber lined, high alumina ceramic and silicon carbide composite, selected according to the abrasiveness of the antimony ore and the pH of the pulp. Spare parts are interchangeable with the standard KYF II dimensions, so existing plants can replace wear parts without modifying the cell.
Q1: Can KYF II be used for antimony ore directly?
A: Yes. It is a general sulfide ore flotation cell; the circuit and reagent scheme are tuned to the antimony mineralogy of your ore.
Q2: Which antimony ore types can this cell handle?
A: Sulfide stibnite ore, antimony ores with arsenic or pyrite, oxidized antimony ore after sulfidization, and antimony-gold bearing ore.
Q3: Do I need an air compressor or blower?
A: KYF II uses an external air supply, so a blower sized to the total air demand of the bank is required.
Q4: Which cell size for a small antimony concentrator?
A: Small plants commonly start from KYF II-4 to KYF II-16; the exact number of cells follows the flotation time and pulp flow of your test work.
Q5: How is the concentrate grade controlled?
A: Through aeration rate, froth depth, impeller speed and cleaning stage configuration. Independent air control on KYF II makes fine adjustment practical.
