Oman’s Mazoon Copper Project is progressing toward its planned production start in 2027, marking an important development for the country’s copper mining industry.
Located in the Wilayat of Yanqul in Al Dhahirah Governorate, the project is being developed by Minerals Development Oman (MDO). It covers approximately 20 square kilometres and includes five open-pit mines, with estimated copper ore reserves of around 23.4 million tonnes.
According to project information, the processing plant is designed to handle approximately 2.5 million tonnes of ore per year and produce around 115,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually, with an average copper grade of approximately 21.5%.
The project includes an integrated mineral processing facility. Its processing operations involve crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening and filtration. Flotation plays an important role in separating copper-bearing minerals from gangue and producing copper concentrate for further processing.
In September 2026, pre-stripping operations began at the mine site, marking a significant step toward full-scale mining. The project is expected to strengthen Oman’s domestic copper production and contribute to the development of its mining and mineral processing sector.
As new copper projects move toward production, efficient mineral processing becomes increasingly important. Reliable flotation equipment helps concentrators maintain stable operation and achieve effective mineral separation.
Y&X provides industrial flotation machines, flotation cells and polyurethane rotor and stator components for mineral processing applications. We support mining operations with equipment solutions based on ore characteristics, processing capacity and plant requirements.
